Incorrect BTC transfer size

I exchanged some BTC for XRP in Exodus. I am trying to merge the withdrawel/income in Koinly as an exchange but the BTC withdrawel which was API generated is showing the incorrect amount of BTC. (and therefore showing double the value)

The Koinly transaction shows that I sent 0.01641606 BTC.

The same transaction in Exodus (matching time and ID) shows I transfered 0.00815752 BTC (about half) - ignore the hour time difference, it will be a daylight savings timezone calculation error - this was the only BTC transaction on that day for BTC.

Clicking on the transaction ID to view it in BlockCypher shows that Koinly is recording the input instead of the output for this transaction.

I tried deleting the transaction and resyncing the wallet but it does not regenerate the transaction at all. This implies that syncing from wallets added from Exodus is not working. I was able to manually add the Exodus BTC wallet using its address (which I would expect not to work as there should already be one there) and it once again grabbed the incorrect transaction amount. I did the same thing in this second wallet and deleted the transaction and resynced and it once again will not regenerate the transaction here either. So I deleted the new instance of this wallet that I added.

As a temporary solution I have manually added the transaction in with the correct amount.

Hi Tim,

Did you sync your BTC wallet using a public address or using the xpub/ypub key?

This can happen if you only import your address but not the key.
You can see from the block explorer that your address is in fact sending the whole amount but the amount is being split between two destinations. One of these receiving addresses is controlled by your Exodus wallet but it is a separate address so Koinly does not know this.

You can fix this by using your xpub/ypub key instead of the public addresses, see here:
