Reports Exporting Without UTC Adjustment

Hi,

My reports have been exporting without the UTC adjustment for timezones.

Historically, the time adjustments have been applied correctly but Koinly has stopped applying adjustments to UTC timing now despite me making no changes to any of my settings.

Thanks.

I wonder if this is what is causing my balances to now be reporting incorrectly. 2 days ago I manually inputted a csv file from OKcoin and it calculated my balances correctly. Now when I use the same exact file it says I have a pretty large balance. Not sure what is causing this issue…

@ndaven021 I raised a direct ticket with Koinly and after much back and forth they’ve acknowledged that it was indeed an error due to an update they made with timezone presentation. The issue should now be fixed.

Hi @jayell

Koinly handles timezones by converting all transaction timestamps to UTC upon import to maintain consistency. This is applied to transactions imported via API. For CSV files, you should make sure the files are in UTC or the time zone is specified - check How to import a CSV file using a different timezone. When generating certain reports, such as the Complete Tax Report, Koinly adjusts these timestamps to your local timezone as specified in your settings. More in Settings > Beginning of tax year, Timezone for reports.

Hi Aria,

Yes, I’m aware that Koinly adjusts the timestamps to the local timezone (which it has done for me historically). However recently, my exported reports are defaulting to 00:00 UTC on a specific date instead of adjusting the timestamps to my local timezone.

This seems to be an error on Koinly’s end as it is no longer applying a timezone adjustment for reports whenever I select a custom date (e.g., 1 January 2025 to 31 January 2025). It was working fine a month ago.

@jayell

Would you double-check the file and see if the time is specified? The transactions are imported at 00:00 when there is no time on the file and there are only dates.
