As Koinly doesn’t support Hedera token transactions, I’ve gone through the process of manually adding them via CSV.
I’ve encountered a problem however, Koinly does not recognise transaction fees.
On Hedera, if you transfer a token (i.e. send), no matter what the token is, the transaction fee will always been in HBAR, the networks native cryptocurrency.
When importing token transactions into Koinly, it disregards the fee and only imports the send part of the transaction, resulting in incorrect balances until you create an entirely separate transaction to record the transaction fee of the previous transaction.
If I understand you correctly, then yes! You are able to add a field in the CSV for Fee Amount and Fee Currency in the same row as the transaction. Koinly will then take the fee paid into consideration.
Take a look at our custom templates if you have not already done so!
The issue I’ve encountered is that on Hedera transactions can include multiple types of fees, in multiple cryptocurrencies.
For example if you send an NFT to another person it’ll include the standard network fee in HBAR (the native crypto), however there may also be a royalty fee on that NFT which could be paid in a Hedera Token Service (HTS) token to a separate address (generally to NFT creator) from the network fee.
Is there a way to include both types of fees in a single transaction via csv? Koinly doesn’t appear to import any types of transactions on Hedera aside from HBAR, with the launch of at least 6 dexes, native & third party staking over and in the coming months this will become an increasingly big issue.
You are only able to add one fee to a transaction. The other fee (HTS as an example) would have to be input as a separate withdrawal with the “cost” label. You can choose to do this either on the CSV or within the Koinly software by creating a manual transaction.
In regards to Hedera not importing anything other than HBAR, it’s something that has been raised to our development team and we hope the patch is implemented soon! I dont have an ETA at present but you can follow updates on the link below.
