A Blockchain bitcoin account or a Scam

Hi guys,

I need a bit help from you, so that I know if my case is real or it could be a Scam!
I was contacted by a person from Blockchain support saying that I have around 2.5 bitcoins in their blockchain database and this account has to be either reactivated or closed. I don’t remember creating such an account but it could be possible that I created it promotionally when I was in London 2016. He said they use koinly.io as a portfolio tracker and he said that he will provide me a password and extension to my email to enter in koinly and see the account. I did that, after we talked with shared screen. After that he said that a small charge around 0.01 % (500euro) should be paid on simplex.com after putting the Id number from koinly, and I could reactivate the account and withdraw the amount. I did not do that, but what do you think? Could that be a real case or a Scam?

This is 100% a scam, the way it works is they find your email/info elsewhere on the internet and set up a Koinly account in your name. They then add manual transactions to make it look like you have ‘long lost BTC’ and ask you to pay to release it.

Once you pay, you will never hear from them again.

If they’ve given you access to the Koinly account, you can close it by going to Settings → Accounts Settings → Close Account. If they haven’t given you access, you can open a support ticket with your email address and we can close it for you. :+1:t2:

Thank you very much Carl! It makes a lot of sense.
Well, they gave me access to koinly account in the beginning, but I cannot log in there any more.
It is interesting that they did not cover themselves well enough and I have an email and tel. nr. of that person, as well as whatsapp and the website they wanted me to make the payment to. Do you know where I could report them in that case?
I would also like to ask you to give me some info and guidance of your concept and services in koinly and how you work with real crypto accounts and partners?
