Hello.
I uploaded all my wallets onto Koinly, but I have a final negative wmatic holdings. This happened because I provided liquidity into some wmatic pool of some farm on polygon, but for some reason the transactions do not account for the wrapping of the matic token, and so it seems like Koinly considers that I got the Wmatic tokens for free, instead of wraping them, and for that reason my capital gains are way higher than they should. I have several transactions with the Missing Purchase History warning.
I uploaded my wallet transactions by providing the public address to the Polygon blockchain.
So far I have tried to understand what the problem was, and the conclusion that I arrived to was that the transactions do not account for the wrapping of the matic token.
Thank you!
Hi David,
This is quite a common issue since these transactions are actually not reported on the block explorers (only the MATIC part, not the WMATIC).
We are looking into ways to fix this but until we do, this will need to be fixed manually.
You can do that by locating the Withdrawals of MATIC that should be shown as trades and manually change them to trades from MATIC to WMATIC.
Best regards,
Petur
Hello. Thanks for the answer.
I am actually writing a Python tool to try and see if I can identify these Wrapping operations. I think I may have a found a solution by looking at the internal and normal transactions on PolygonScan. If I manage to implement this routine using the Polygonscan API (Which I assume you are using), how would I share it with Koinly (Assuming you are receiving Community Contributions obviously).
Now that I think about it, would it not be a reasonable and practical solution to just consider both WMATIC and MATIC as being the same currency?
Thanks!
