Jupiter DEX Perp trade Transactions

Describe the problem:
When opening a perp trade I get 2 transactions (1-Send 1-deposit) The deposit is small? Then closing the perp trade a get 2 transactions, (1-Deposit and 1-send) Send is a small amount. Can someone detail what these transactions represent and how to properly tag them?

Which exchange/wallet is this regarding?
Phantom

How did you import data into this wallet?
API

What have you tried to fix this so far?
I have read in the forum to tag all transactions as Realized P&L? This doesn’t seem right?

Hi @Joey_H

Check out the feature request below on our feedback portal and the workaround suggested:

Our article about Jupiter transactions (all types):

Jupiter Limit Trades on Solana

So just to clarify, I would tag all 4 transactions involved in this perp trade as “Realized PNL”, nothing more to do?

In settings, should I set Realized PNL to recognize as capital gains? For USA.

Thank you

These Withdrawals (openPosition) and Deposits (closePosition) should be tagged as “realized PnL”.

Regarding the Setting, the “treat other gains as CG” is by default off for the US users but I suggest you talk to your accountant regarding that.

I Changed the tag for the send (open perp trade) to Realized PNL. I then Changed the tag for the deposit (closed perp trade) to Realized PNL. The gain shows up in “other gains” on the tax report. Thank you, feeling better about the trade accounting now. However I hope Koinly is working on a fix for this.

If you wish to include the Other Gains in your Capital Gains P&L, there is a toggle in the Settings for that (treat other gains as capital gains).
