Form 8949 Part I shows sales that do not exist in the Koinly transaction DB. For instance: it shows a sale of 5.6 BTC on January 1 2021. But there are no transactions for BTC on January 1 2021 nor in the previous 2 days or next 2 days. Also, I have never owned more than 3 BTC, ever.
This is showing a profit of $199,000. So this is a huge problem. SInce there are no transactions I have no idea how to correct this problem. It is also showing non existent Tx for ETH on this date.
I’m having similar issues. All of my listed transactions in koinly look correct and match up to my history with the exchanges.
However, the dates for puchases and sales on the generated tax report are terribly inaccurate as are the proceeds.
And yes, koinly has ALL of my imports via API key/imported file. I’ve spent several nights matching up my exchanges history with koinly’s transactions.
But the tax report is wildly incorrect. I’m about to as for a refund, since its absolutely useless and I simply can’t submit this to the IRS unless I want to risk audit/penalties.
I have similiar issues with the Schedule D / 8949 Tax Report with very innacurate acquisition dates which throw large gains into Short-term vs. Long-term gains category. I also found transfers between exchanges (non-taxable event) showing up as ST Gains. I sent an email to Koinly support, what is the best way to resolve these type of issues?
