Original acquisition date on transferred tokens not being preserved

Koinly appears to reset the acquisition date (and as such the holding period) on tokens that are transferred between wallets/exchanges. This has ramifications for CGT disposal events of these tokens, as it effectively means the acquisition dates on these tokens are later than they should be, and can preclude someone from claiming 12 month CGT discounts on disposal of these tokens because the original earlier acquisition date is lost and reset to the last time the tokens were transferred between wallets/exchanges.

This had originally been queried in this post here, but this was not responded to and is now closed:

Is there guidance around how original acquisition dates (and as such the longer holding periods) on tokens that are transferred between exchanges/wallets can be preserved?

Thanks,
Michael

Hi @Michael_Ferguson

Sorry to ask, but are both wallets added to Koinly? The acquisition date should be preserved if a transfer is documented correctly in Koinly.
