Missing purchase history

The message received below followed my importation of a file from Kucoin. However all these withdrawal transactions are supported by the Kucoin deposit file which was also submitted.

You seem to be missing history for a number of coins, you can review these transactions and filter by a coin that you only have a few transactions for, perhaps VET or WAX, then compare with what you are seeing on Kucoin.

I have uploaded the full set of the deposits and withdrawals ever made to and from Kucoin, so I’m not sure what else I can do to resolve this.

You are missing tokens that you may have received from bonuses/airdrops, ex. the ENJ, XTZ, ATOM issues. You are also missing substantial amount of ETH.

Many exchanges dont have an accurate history of all your data, for kucoin this is true expecially if you traded before mid 2019.

In this case you can ask their support for a file with all your old transactions. You can also refer to our help articles if you want to figure out approx. where the missing transactions took place. Note that Koinly will calculate an accurate tax report even with missing data but you may end up paying some more tax.

I’m having a similar issue. I seem to be missing some Kucoin transactions between February and May 2018. I have Koinly connected to the Kucoin API and the “missing purchase history” warning comes up. I’ve tried downloading the Kucoin transaction history myself using their website (including the “old data” website), and I’ve tried e-mailing Kucoin for my old transaction history. The transaction history they sent me actually helped me resolve some other “missing purchase history” warnings that occurred more recently - in May 2019. But it did not help me with this early 2018 missing purchase history.

Do you have any more advice on avenues of recourse? I can’t seem to find the transaction history I need from Kucoin’s website, the API, or in data they’ve sent me when I contacted customer service.

It’s 0.25 BTC that is missing purchase history. Not the end of the world, but I’d rather not have to pay taxes as though I bought this 0.25 BTC for $0.01 simply because Kucoin lost my data.

You could add a manual transaction for the BTC amount if you have some idea how much you bought it for and when. Aside for that tax agencies usually want you to have a zero cost basis if you dont have a proper record.

I have already submitted this manually, but I still get the same response.

Koinly is just a calculator, you enter data and it will output your gains. if data is missing, it will show you warning messages that you can choose to ignore or rectify as you see fit. If you are seeing these warnings after importing your data then it simply means that the missing data is not present in your csv files.

I have now separately uploaded each individual withdrawal in CSV format that had been listed as missing. After each upload a Koinly message stated that no new transactions were received and that the remainder were duplicated. Surely this means that the so called ‘missing transactions’ are actually already held in the Koinly system.

I had problems on another exchange with missing purchase history, the problem I found was that koinly uses the close date and time which doesn’t account for orders partially filling 3 days earlier… Solution was to soft delete the API transaction so it doesn’t get synced again and add the same transaction a few minutes before the missing funds are shown

Which exchange did you have this issue with?

Bittrex in late 2017, also in 2018 I had an issue on bittrex where I withdrew RVN before the order filled completely which came up as missing X amount of funds, same thing just soft deleted the transaction when the order was completed and moved it just before the withdrawal which solved the issue

The issue with Bittrex was addressed in a recent update so you shouldn’t need to make any manual changes anymore.
