Describe the problem:
Staking ETH from Ledger wallet to Coinbase Pool creates a “Send” transaction and a capital gain.
Switching the transaction to “Add to Pool”, removes the gain, but when unstaking these ETH, there is no corresponding unstaking type of transaction so the balance still shows in the Pool when nothign is there.
Issue seems to be that Staking activity creates the following:
- Send ETH to Pool. (can change this to “Add to Pool”)
- Deposit LCETH ($0 value token in place of your staked ETH)
Unstaking activity creates the following:
- Exchange LCETH to an NFT in Ledger. (Can change to Swap)
Secondary action needed in Ledger to “Claim” unstaked ETH creates the following:
- Exchange NFT to ETH. (shows big gain, so it must be changed to “Swap”)
Notice that there is a “add to pool” but no “unstaking” event recorded. Koinly is showing ETH balance correctly for the Ledger address, but it is showing a Pooled amount as well and the total ETH is too high because of this.
Which exchange/wallet is this regarding?
Ledger Live with Staked ETH using Coinbase Pool
How did you import data into this wallet?
Imported from Ledger address.
Extra “wallet” created by Koinly when transaction marked “add to Pool”. This created a Pool wallet with a balance that didn’t go down when unstaked later.
What have you tried to fix this so far?
I have described the transaction types I edited above. In addition I have also tried “Ignore reported balances” on the Ledger ETH wallet API settings.
If I leave the original staking transaction as “Send”, all the balances are correct… but there is a capital gain recorded when it shouldn’t be. The staking activity shouldn’t trigger the gain so when I switch that to “add to pool”, I get this issue.
