Coinbase: Monad (MON) syncing/mapped as “MON Protocol” in Koinly (wrong asset)

Describe the problem:

  • In my Coinbase account I hold a token shown as Monad (MON).
  • When I sync Coinbase into Koinly, Koinly imports/syncs it as “MON Protocol” (appears to be a different token/asset).
  • This looks like an incorrect ticker/asset mapping during the Coinbase sync.
  • Portfolio holdings show the wrong asset name/logo.
  • Cost basis / gains reporting could be incorrect if pricing is pulled for the wrong asset.
  • Any tax report exports may be wrong unless this mapping is corrected.

Which exchange/wallet is this regarding?

  • Coinbase Exchange

How did you import data into this wallet?

  • API Sync (Coinbase integration in Koinly)

What have you tried to fix this so far?

  • Re-synced Coinbase in Koinly.
  • Checked if Koinly lets me change the coin/asset for the imported transactions (but the sync keeps returning it as “MON Protocol”).
  • Verified in Coinbase UI that the asset displayed is Monad (MON) (not “MON Protocol”).

Hi @phcimage

Please use the Change Currency feature to map the wrong ticker to the correct one:

https://support.koinly.io/en/articles/9490042-change-currency-if-koinly-imported-the-wrong-token

To follow the instructions linked, the correct token needs to already exist in Koinly’s database. It doesn’t appear that Koinly has added the main L1 version of Monad yet, which is what is available to purchase on Coinbase (https://www.coinbase.com/price/monad).

None of the “Monad” entries in the Koinly database currently have the right logo or price.
