Token has been delisted

Describe the problem:

I would like to sell an altcoin that was only listed on 1 exchange, that exchange has now delisted the token.
I was going to offset the losses from the sale against any capital gains.

Is there a way I can realise the loss that will satisfy HMRC?

Hi @lykoin

While I suggest you discuss this with a CPA to determine the best course of action, from a technical perspective, you can create a manual withdrawal of the tokens and tag them as “lost.”

Thank-you for the link Aria.

I manually created a withdrawal for all of the tokens and tagged it as “lost”.

However as the tokens cost me £1890 and the value at the time of the manual withdrawal is £17 I was hoping the loss of £1873 would be taken off of my capital gains for 2025/2026.

Is there a way to do this?

You can remove the Lost tag, edit the transaction, and change the Worth of the tokens to $0 to realize a loss on the transaction. Double-check with your CPA to see if you are allowed to do this, though.

Thank-you Aria,

I will ask a CPA if this is allowed.

I also have £400 I spent on WLUNA stuck on Coinbase who will not allow it to be sold, hopefully that can be written off as a loss too.
