I am in divorce proceedings falsely accused of hiding crypto. 2 experts later and they still can’t piece it together properly. Now a forensic accountant on the case. I’m hoping that Koinly is the right tool to settle this and I will share the information with the forensic accountant. However my crypto holdings are complex.
I am unsure how to manage, record and tag a number of transactions:
-
Bitcoin Transfers to my Ex-Wife as part of an agreement we reached (I also have her xPub Address that she received Bitcoin into) - I believe are recorded as Gift???
-
Celsius Tokens holdings jointly held between myself and my new partner and then exchanged for Bitcoin and eventually Fiat. Because of the accounts I was unable to create an account in her name only for the Celsius in 2021 so I had to convert them and transferred them into her own wallet. This is also part of a nano ledger xPub of wallets. Very mixed at the time.
So it is all a mixed mess.
My understanding is:
- No need to tag an internet purchase. Leave it as ‘SEND’
- Tag any bitcoin sent to a Scam as Scam (Sadly I was scammed out of 8BTC in 2018! - Accused of still holding it)
- Ensure all transfers are correctly allocated
- Delete duplicate entries resulting in miss-matches
- Manually adjust entries where a token was transferred and then auto exchanged/burned for the real token (i.e. EOS).
Can I pool my partners and my ex-wifes transactions? I need to demonstrate the full trail of all the crypto.
How do I handle Deposits that were from an exchange that I no longer have the records to such as btc-e?
I appreciate this is a lot of questions. Any answers are greatly appreciated. Having to trace 12 years of transactions.
