I made some trades using Shapeshift a few years ago. It was before Shapeshift had user accounts so I don’t have a downloadable trade history with them.
However I do have my own record of trades and I know which withdrawals/deposits in my other wallets were actually transfers to/from Shapeshift.
The way I recall Shapeshift used to work was you would configure a trade and Shapeshift provided you with an address for you to send crypto to. At the same time it asked for an address to send converted crypto to. So Shapeshift performed exchange for you but your crypto was never deposited with them for any meaningful length of time.
I’m not sure how to enter this into Koinly, but here’s what I suspect I should do:
First create a custom Shapeshift wallet. Then generate the following 3 transactions for each Shapeshift trade.

Find the “Withdrawal” transaction in non-Shapeshift wallet that is actually a transfer to Shapeshift. Change it to a “Transfer” to Shapeshift custom wallet.

Create a “Trade” transaction in Shapeshift custom wallet that represents the trade itself.

Find “Deposit” transaction in non-Shapeshift wallet that is actually a transfer from Shapeshift. Change it to a transfer from Shapeshift custom wallet.
Is this a suitable approach?
