searched for way to map to known token, but can’t find a way. How do I tell Koinly that a token it doesn’t recognize is actually token X?..

Koinly gets its market data from Coingecko and Coinmarketcap. If the coin is not available there then Koinly will not have a price feed for it.
In these cases, you must assign the value yourself manually. This is best done via a CSV import as doing so manually via the interact could take time (if you have many).
If the coin is listed on the above platforms, but we still do not recognise it. Please let me know which coins they are and I will have our currency team handle this.
