Coinbase PRO API Access Denied

Describe the problem:
I have been getting “Access denied, check your API keys.”,

Which exchange/wallet is this regarding?
Coinbase PRO

How did you import data into this wallet?
API

What have you tried to fix this so far?
tried 5-6 times already and have watch the video tutorial as well.

Hey @imreet.singh

Thanks for reaching out, I can help you troubleshoot this.

Can you please advise if the wallet was added recently or from a while back?

Did any transactions sync to the account?

If the wallet was added >3 months ago, you will need to create a new set of API keys, as it’s likely they have expired.

If the wallet is newly created, with a new set of keys - I am inclined to think that something was entered incorrectly, such as the passphrase so please double-check this.

Nevertheless, I will wait to hear back from you and we can talk about the next steps!

Hi Ali -

I have tried adding wallet for coinbase pro a few times in last 3-4 days. Every time I get same error. See attached.

I have carefully created the API keys in coinbase pro a few times and everytime its same error.

@imreet.singh

That is very strange, I also use Coinbase Pro and just managed to setup my wallet fine using the video guide.

Apologies if you have already done this, but did you make sure to enter the “passphrase”, “secret key” and “API key” properly?

I know for a fact that when creating a new set of keys, the prompt window will fist give you the PASSPHRASE, and then you must go through the prompts to obtain the secret key, and then finally the API key.

Please delete the wallet, and delete any existing keys that have been generated by Coinbase PRO and try once more. If its still not working, I will escalate this to our technical team.

First, you’ll get the passphrase, then the secret, then the key. Be sure to enter them correctly!

Hi Ali - Thats exactly right. I use the passphrase which is generated 1st and saved it.
Then left the IP Whitelist blank.
Then it generated the API secret.

Koinly prompts secret first and then pass. I was careful

I have also entered same API name as I used in Coinbase Pro when creating.
Same error every time.

@imreet.singh Just one more thing Imreet, before I escalate this - In the Permissions section, did you check VIEW?

Also, I can’t recall if the IP Whitelist should be blank when setting it up, does it contain your personal IP? or have a pre-set value as mine did in the picture above?

Hey @imreet.singh

I just noticed on your account that in the API Key field, it simply says KoinlyAPI. This is probably the reason for the error.

You must copy and paste the long code displayed once the key has been created in Coinbase Pro.
Example - The API key here is 4f2be2aaddec… ensure you copy yours exactly how it appears on the exchange.
