Binance exclamation mark warning

Describe the problem:
I get an exclamation mark warning and when you click on it, it says: Some of your calculated balances do not match the balances reported by the API. The differences are listed below. [Learn more] This list was updated 2 days ago.

It then lists 16 coins and balances, some positive (green), some negative (red)
When I click on Learn more it takes me to this article : “Missing purchase history for XYZ”

I have no idea whether the warning I have is telling me if I have missing purchase or not. Is there any way of confirming this?

How did you import data into this wallet?
I first added the csv file and then I added the API connection afterwards

What have you tried to fix this so far?
Nothing, I have no idea how to fix it or the steps to take


Wallet: Binance (Binance)
Transactions: 41129
Imported with: API

  1. Start date is set
  2. This API has certain limitations:
    ---- Only last 100 dust conversions after 2020/12/01 are provided
    ---- Only P2P transactions from the last 6 months are imported
    ---- Convert trades before 2021-01-01 are not provided by API
    ---- Only Pay transactions from the last 18 months are imported
    ---- Commission rebates are not provided by the API

So now, I’ve deleted the Binance wallet and re-imported everything via csv (no API) and now there are more transactions and no warnings, everything seems to be Ok. Does this mean I can just go with what I’ve got (from csv file import) or do you have to do the API sync after (which I’m guessing will mess everything up again) ?

In answer to the first question, there is a way to check only the missing purchase histories.

Go into your Binance wallet >>Click on the Yellow button labeled “Troubleshoot” >>On the right side of the screen you’ll see a button labeled “Review Missing Cost Transactions.”

This will isolate the missing purchase histories. :raised_hands:

Speaking to your follow-up message, CSV files tend to be more accurate with certain exchanges. The API can sometimes have limitations with specific transaction types and not pull those into your Koinly account.

If you’re not seeing any exclamation mark warning - this is a great indicator that your transactions are looking accurate! You can check the Tax Reports page and if there are any persisting issues, Koinly will show the “Binance” wallet in the yellow review box. Otherwise, you’re good to go with that wallet.

Another mention: I would suggest using only one method (CSV files or API). When you use both there is the potential for duplicate transactions. If you would like to use both - scroll to the bottom of this help resource to the section, Can I upload the same file again? There will be instructions on how to sequence the imported data.

Thanks very much for your help. I will take a look at the resource you have given but at the moment everything is looking Ok. The errors only came up when I used the API and the CSV together. However I used the Review Misssing Cost transactions but nothing was listed. So I don’t really know what those errors where. I checked the Tax report page and there was one minor error which I corrected and now everhting is error free, so I’m guessing it’s all OK.
