Accepted cost basis methods for Germany

Hi!
Does the German tax office accept LIFO or specific identification as methods for calculating the cost basis?

Our Tax Guide for Germany mentions that FIFO is the preferred cost basis method in Germany but there is no indication of whether you are allowed to use other methods.
