Transctions for buying crypto with fiat missing from Kraken sync

Describe the problem:

Syncing Kraken via API does not add transactions for purchasing crypto with fiat. Other transactions appear to be correct.

Which exchange/wallet is this regarding?

Kraken

How did you import data into this wallet?

I created an API key per instructions and clicked the sync now button.

What have you tried to fix this so far?

Importing from a file adds the transactions correctly.

Did you get a response to this issue? I’m having the same problem.

No, I haven’t got any response.

Hi guys,

This is one if the main limitation of the Kraken API but there is unfortunately nothing we can do about this until Kraken adds these transactions to their API.

There are two ways to fix this:

  1. Add these transactions manually
  2. Delete the wallet and create a new one using the CSV files provided by Kraken.

The CSV files from Kraken (called ‘Ledgers.csv’) are excellent as they include all transactions and can be easily imported to Koinly.
This is how you get your CSV file from Kraken:

  1. Open the Kraken > History > Export page
  2. Select ‘Ledgers’ from the drop-down list and ‘All’ in the time period
  3. Set time period to include ALL years of trading
  4. Click on Select All and then on Submit
  5. Wait a few seconds until the Download button appears, then click on it
  6. Upload the downloaded file to Koinly

After importing the CSV file to Koinly, you can connect the API again but you will need to set the API to ‘Start syncing from: Now’ so it doesn’t re-sync the previously imported transactions. The API will of course continue to skip the ‘Buy’ and ‘Sell’ transactions so the CSV might still be a better option if you have a lot of those transactions.

Best regards,
Petur
