Seriously, please send my overpayment back!

I paid my pro plan in eth more than a week ago. However, I overpaid by mistake the equivalent of about $600 in eth. The coinbase commerce checkout detected the overpayment and asked me to contact the vender directly to resolve the issue. A transaction ID was also provided.

The same day I contacted koinly support by email. A first reply from ‘Support Team’ asked me whether I would like the amount to be credited to my Koinly account so I can purchase other reports with it. I immediately replied that I would like to be refunded instead. I also shared my ethereum address where I would like the overpaid eth to be sent back. Since then, I keep receiving emails from ‘Support Team’, ‘Operator from koinly’, ‘hello@koinly.io’, ‘Anders from koinly’ and ‘Robin from koinly’ to drag me into a kind of communication labyrinth where I’m told everything except that my overpaid eth was sent back. There was even one email telling me that the transaction failed and ‘do you need help with this?’. I got a number of emails asking me about my experience with the koinly support as if nothing happened. Now I don’t get answers to my emails for the last 4 days.

Well, this is not serious. Regardless to whether or when I receive my refund back, I have to share my experience: a website that takes credit card numbers from customers should show a more serious behaviour dealing with its customers money.

I am surprised you paid in ETH - gas fees and no protection that you get from a credit card chargebacks. Also they may not like the idea of refunding in ETH (more gas fees) even if they don’t admit it. Thanks for letting us know about the poor service; again I have no doubt that they are overwhelmed but they need to communicate. Their web chat STILL suggests to post to this forum for the fastest response…really?

I bought my eth from a broker who sells cryptos for more expensive than the market but offers free withdrawals, so the transaction was free for me. I also try to avoid using my credit card with any crypto-related site whenever I can for obvious reasons. I told koinly that I can provide a bep2 address if that helps them save on transaction fees but they didn’t seem to care about the whole story anyways.

Hi, the issue is that you are sending emails from different email addresses that are not registered with Koinly. We have no way of knowing if one conversation is related to another if the sending email is different - this is why you are being asked to provide info again and again. Your query has already been answered and the refund will be processed from our side, this can take 5-10 business days.
