In 2021, my friend bought crypto on his Binance account and then sent them to my account, as I was having issues buying at that time. I transferred the money to him for this purchase via a bank transfer. Naturally on Koinly, it does not recognise this deposit to my account as a purchase. Is there a way in which I can edit this deposit to show i did pay for the deposit?

Thanks for your question. 
Assuming you paid your friend in fiat, you’d be OK just leaving it as it is as far as the tax calculations are concerned.
If the value of the Deposit is different to what you paid for it, you can edit the transaction and set the cost-basis by clicking as shown below:
