# How does Koinly know which transaction to tax

I brought some BTC in 2018 9k ( AUD ) alot in between but some more in 2021 76k.  
I want to sell the 2021 purchase to get the capital loss . How does Koinly know that and not use my 2018 purchase making it a capital gain ???
