Hello. I uploaded my csv file from Crypto.com and was wondering how I can report gifts with a cost basis of 0 in your system. It’s currently labelled as a “Deposit” and don’t see an option to convert it to “Gift”.
I’m no longer in contact with the person who gifted me the crypto and since I can’t prove the cost basis I read that I must report these gifts with a cost basis of 0 when I sell. This is different from tagging it as income, because with Income you must pay tax on the value the moment it was received. As a gift, you do not pay taxes on it unless you sell.
