Bitcoin Transactions with Two Outputs

Describe the problem:

When you send a bitcoin transaction, unless you spend the entire balance of the address, the transaction will have 2 outputs:

  1. The receiving address which receives part of the balance
  2. The senders change address which receives the remainder

Koinly doesn’t appear to be able to treat such transactions (which are extremely common) as simple transfers, even when you specify that you own both receiving addresses. Koinly doesn’t appear to allow you to merge more than one transaction (the outgoing transaction and the two incoming transactions).

Which exchange/wallet is this regarding?

Sender: bitcoin wallet
Receiver 1: coinbase
Receiver 2: bitcoin wallet (change address)

How did you import data into this wallet?

Coinbase retrieved from API. Wallet address entered manually and transactions imported after from scanning blockchain.

What have you tried to fix this so far?

I’ve tried every way I can think of to merge these transactions but it doesn’t appear to recognize it properly.

Hello,

I had this exact same issue recently. You can try importing your transactions to Koinly using the extended public key (xpub) from your BTC wallet (instead of using the public address directly). The xpub has access to all the transactions so the extra output should show up correctly.
